Maybe you've read some plays, maybe you like going to see them, maybe you tried your hand at a one-act one time and wondered if you were doing it "right." In this three-hour introduction to the foundational elements of playwriting craft, we'll go over the numerous ways one can construct a play and explore the power of the theater to awaken empathy, bring people together and challenge our most deeply held beliefs.

About the Instructor:
Edith Freni holds both her BFA and MFA from NYU’s Department of Dramatic Writing. Her work has been produced and developed at theaters across the country. She was the inaugural Emory University Playwriting Fellow from 2014-16; a 2015-16 Ingram New Works Lab resident playwright at Nashville Repertory Theater; the recipient a fellowship at the 2016 Sewanee Writers' Conference and served as the 2016-18 Tennessee Williams Playwright-in-Residence at The University of the South in Sewanee, TN.
