In this six-week course, we’ll draw from the tenets of world building, satire, and science fiction to inform and expand our own dark visions. Familiarity with classic dystopian works like 1984 or The Handmaid's Tale is appreciated but not required.

This is a workshop for those who have an idea for a dystopian story but aren't sure what to do with it. It is also a workshop for those who are already working on a dystopian story but would welcome constructive feedback and direction.

Christopher Clancy is the author of the anti-war thriller WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from American University. His work has appeared in Alligator Juniper, Folio, and McSweeney's Internet Tendency.
