In Writing the Fragment, we’ll turn to abbreviated and altered forms of poetry and prose to consider the potency of interrupted forms of expression. When and why do we stop writing? What stops us from writing? Rather than prescribe a generative approach against these lived constraints, this course seeks instead to empower its participants to embrace the fragment.    Through reading, writing, and discussion, we will explore literary forms in expression of our own lived limits.

Note: This class is scheduled to take place in-person at Porch HQ. You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate, and we will enroll a maximum of 9 participants. Masks are not required at this time, though we will revisit this policy as needed. Check our website and this listing for details before you attend class.

AM Ringwalt is a writer and musician. The author of "The Wheel" (Spuyten Duyvil), her work appears in Jacket2, Music & Literature and Black Warrior Review. The recipient of the 2019 Sparks Prize as a graduate of the University of Notre Dame’s MFA in Poetry, she teaches creative writing at Belmont University, the Porch and Interlochen Center for the Arts.
