This meetup is designed for writers who identify as Black within the diaspora. First started in 2022, this group is continuing with a new vision and hope toward building a learning community specific to the needs of Black writers and authors in and around Nashville. The meetup will be hosted by Tonya Abari, freelance writer, author, and teaching artist at The Porch.

Tonya Abari is a multigenre storyteller, author, freelance editor, and book reviewer for children and adults. Her words and reviews can be found in Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Good Housekeeping, ZORA, and many more! One of "sixteen, creative, rising voices," Abari is a 2021 We Need Diverse Books Picture Book Mentee. She has forthcoming multigenre children’s book projects with Innovation Press, NatGeo Kids, Mudpuppy Books, and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
