Join us for an afternoon of creativity and connection at our October Songwriters Meetup, led by Ruby Rae! Whether you're a seasoned writer or just beginning to pen your melodies, this meet-up is a safe and inspiring space for songwriters of all levels to share, collaborate, and grow. This isn't just a gathering; it's an opportunity to engage with fellow musicians, gain feedback, and explore new perspectives on your work. Expect a relaxed atmosphere filled with supportive individuals who share your passion for songwriting. Bring your instruments, lyrics, or simply your ideas – everyone is encouraged to participate at their comfort level. Share your latest compositions, receive constructive feedback, or join in on impromptu jam sessions. It's a chance to learn, be inspired, and perhaps even collaborate on something magical.
Nashville-based Ruby Rae writes and performs music that defies easy categorization: a catalogue of influences would include Wanda Jackson, Mazzy Star, and Lori McKenna. Simultaneously catchy and psychological, the sound is cinematic and complex, drawing on diverse sources that include folklore, film, mythology, and autobiography. Her full band album "The Uncanny" (2016) was inspired during a residency at the Akumal International Art Residency in Mexico, and her album collaboration with producer Lawson White "True Crime" (2022) incorporates neo-surf noir, rockabilly swagger, and torch-song orchestration. Ruby Rae has previously facilitated songwriting workshops in partnership with the New Jersey Public Library, and is currently working on new music.
