Who says prose has to be prosaic? Innovative narrative structures are all around us, from the forms we fill out to the letters we write to the words that we - or others - censor.
In this generative workshop, we'll use work by poets Divya Victor and Solmaz Sharif to expand our ideas of what our stories, essays, and poems might look like. We'll spend time experimenting with a variety of unconventional structures, share what we learned, and brainstorm ideas of how this experimentation will inform our future work. Students will leave with a first draft of a piece, a set of prompts, and a deeper understanding of how and where experimentation can drive our work into new and unexpected places.
