Want to write unforgettable queer romance novels? In this four-week course, we will move beyond tropes to explore how authors may use classic archetypes and universal themes to build complex and nuanced queer characters readers won't soon forget. Our ultimate goal will be to blend trope, archetype, and theme to create compelling queer stories. Our classes will be seminar style, relying heavily on discussion, exercises, and your own projects, should you choose.

  • In-Class Writing Lift: Medium
  • Homework: Optional
  • Workshopping Drafts:

Liz Arncliffe has been telling stories big and small since she was a child, spinning yarns about imaginary critters in the Appalachian foothills where she grew up. She’s only ever lived in the southeastern United States, though she constantly threatens her wife and family with packing up and moving to parts far and wide. Her debut novel was short-listed for two Golden Crown Literary Society Goldie Awards and continues to perform well on Amazon and Goodreads. Her second sapphic romance will be released by Ylva Publishing in late 2026. Australia is Liz’s Roman Empire.
