Alien encounters, other worlds, and mysterious signals: In this workshop we’ll look at some classic types of science fiction stories. We’ll talk about how sci-fi writers blend imagination with reality and use some creative prompts create stories of our own. By the time we’re done, you’ll have beginnings for two tales that are out of this world.
Note: This class is scheduled to take place in-person at Porch HQ. Student and instructor safety is still our top priority, so masks are required at all times when inside the building. All Porch instructors have been fully vaccinated.
Before moving to Nashville, Joe Kanewas an editor for several literary magazines and taught creative writing in Detroit Public Schools as a writer-in-residence of the Inside Out Literary Arts Project. His poems and stories have found many homes, including RHINO, Elimae, theEEEL, Clapboard House, The Splinter Generation, Cricket Online Review, Psychic Meatloaf, Right Hand Pointing, and the NPR podcast Versify.
