Join us for a free craft class and reading with poet, actor, and international artist Cameron L. Mitchell, whose latest book Breaking the Block: Building a Path to Write the Story offers strategies for overcoming writer’s block while nurturing emotional intelligence, mental wellness, and literary craft.

In this one-hour craft talk, Cameron will share practical techniques for overcoming creative obstacles and unlocking your writing flow. Following the class, Cameron will read selections of poetry from Breaking the Block and discuss the process behind the book.

Cameron L. Mitchell is the Founder and Executive Director of Free Fyre and the 2022 Poet Laureate of Murfreesboro. An international artist known for his transformative storytelling, he has collaborated with organizations such as the Legacy Foundation in Japan, Nafasi Art Space in Tanzania, Faith Temple in Germany, Disney, PBS, the Bobby Jones Show, Vanderbilt University, and the National Jazz Museum of Harlem, as well as cities across the U.S. including Chicago, Memphis, and Atlanta. An award-winning actor, Cameron is known for his role as Corey Maxson in Fences (Nashville Rep), which received the award for Best Contemporary Drama. He also stars in the feature film Dating My Past, which premiered internationally in Curaçao and is now streaming globally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Peacock.
