Nonfiction exposes the reader to the author’s unabashed and beating heart. This course will explore many tools typically associated with fiction writing: conflict, scene construction, and plot. By the end, students will have been shown necessary principles to forge art from their secret stash of memories and experiences, making the read electric for their audience.
Joshua Mohr is the author of the memoir Sirens and of several novels, including Damascus, which The New York Times called "beat-poet cool." His novel All This Life won the Northern California Book Award. He is the founder of Decant Editorial.
