In this course, you'll navigate the many paths to picture book publication including traditional publishing, small/indie presses, self publishing, or a hybrid combination of multiple publishing paths. This class is best suited for those new to writing picture books or creatives who need direction with choosing a publication path. Each participant will leave with a teacher-guided pros/cons graphic organizer unique to their own picture book idea/manuscript. By the end of the workshop, picture book writers and illustrators alike can then decide: Which path to picture book publication is right for me?

Tonya Abari is a multigenre storyteller, author, freelance editor, and book reviewer for children and adults. Her words and reviews can be found in Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Good Housekeeping, ZORA, and many more! One of "sixteen, creative, rising voices," Abari is a 2021 We Need Diverse Books Picture Book Mentee. She has forthcoming multigenre children’s book projects with Innovation Press, NatGeo Kids, Mudpuppy Books, and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
