In this four-week poetry workshop we will dive headfirst into poets whose work conjures the image, symbol, persona and other elements of "The Witch." We will read and write together. We will use poetry to make magic. We will explore what the Witch means in our own lives as well as in our own creative work, and creative prompts will help us discover new ways to conjure language while thinking about poetry as magic and ritual. We will consider the Witch as both personal and communal. We will treat language as a portal between the earthly and the spiritual realm.

Meg Wade is a National Poetry Series finalist and a former Diane Middlebrook Poetry Fellow at the University of Wisconsin's Creative Writing Institute. Her chapbook, Slick Like Dark, won the 2017 Snowbound Chapbook Award and is now out from Tupelo Press. Meg has been the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Prize and is a co-curator of Be Witched, a literary and arts event series. You can find her poems online, as well as various print journals and anthologies. She lives and writes in Nashville, Tennessee.
