In this generative online workshop, writers will be prompted to write new pieces and read them fresh from the page to receive purely positive feedback. After a short warm-up prompt, we'll "write without the brakes on" for four minutes, and read these fresh micro-moments aloud to provide collaborative inspiration. A series of possible portals are offered to take off-screen and inspire writing for thirty more minutes. We then return to the group to share and listen for what we love. We highlight craft when we ask: What's working? What stands out and will stick? What shines and why?
This one-time session is ideal for all levels of experience and all genres, for those who like (or would like to try) writing quietly among others, reading fresh work aloud, and supporting others. Writers take away a clutch of strategies and prompts to use on their own. Sparks! has the potential to become an ongoing group.
