The Come Apart: Craft & Reading Series with Susannah Felts, in conversation with Katie McDougall

Please join us for a special Craft & Reading Series event featuring Porch Cofounders Susannah Felts and Katie McDougall. Following a reception, Susannah will be in conversation with Katie about her new novel The Come Apart, and will give a brief reading. Books will be available for purchase on-site from our friends at Parnassus.

Please note: Susannah’s craft class, Slow Writing: A Practice of Reverence, takes place from 6 - 7 p.m. prior to the reception and conversation, and requires separate registration. This registration link is for the reception, reading, and conversation portion of the evening, taking place from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.

Praise for The Come Apart:

“One of the great art novels.” —Mary Miller, author of Biloxi

“This was a book I truly wanted to savor. Two chapters in, I already missed it. Like the protagonist, I played in an indie band in Chicago in 2009 and moved to Nashville in 2010, and was nostalgic as Felts’s spot-on descriptions evoked the rare and fleeting optimism of both cities at that point in time. Felts expertly balances the tenuous existence of a young, grieving songwriter who struggles to find her footing in an ever-changing world. As elegant as it is gritty, as delicate as it is raw, as thought-provoking as it is tender. I know I will keep Maggie close to my heart for a long time after finishing this book.” —Leslie Baird, author of Salomé

SUSANNAH FELTS is a writer, editor, and cofounder of the Porch, a nonprofit literary arts center in Nashville, Tennessee. She is the author of the novel This Will Go Down on Your Permanent Record, and her writing has appeared in The Best American Science and Nature Writing, StorySouth, Literary Hub, and elsewhere.
