Food has a way of bringing people together, and every meal carries the opportunity for story. In this autumnal writing workshop, we'll explore how food can reveal character, evoke memory, build community, and deepen a sense of place. Through literary discussion and guided writing exercises, participants will discover how different types of food, traditions, and even a single ingredient can become storytelling tools. Writers of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction are all welcome. Participants are invited (but not required) to bring a favorite fall dish or family recipe to share as we celebrate the stories we gather around the table.
Cara Lynn Albert is a writer from Florida. Her debut book, Worshipping the Sun, is forthcoming in 2027 from Santa Fe Writers Project. She holds an MFA degree in creative writing from the University of Colorado Boulder, and her work has been published in TriQuarterly, The Florida Review, New Ohio Review, Bat City Review, and elsewhere. Cara currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
