With so many MFA programs out there, it can be hard to know where to start. In this info-session class, we will go over the essentials and the nitty gritty of the process—covering everything from teaching expectations and personal essays to faculty and cohort size. Students will have an opportunity to discuss creative writing samples, work with peers, and receive tailored feedback on their applications. By the end of the class, each student will leave with a list of their top choice schools along with an actionable, step-by-step guide for applying.

Hilary Bell is a writer from Nashville, Tennessee. An ASME National Magazine Award Finalist, her work has appeared in American Short Fiction and elsewhere. She holds an M.F.A. in fiction from The Iowa Writers’ Workshop and has taught creative writing at The University of Iowa, where she was a postgraduate screenwriting fellow.
