Mamas in Music Presents: Write to the Brief

Wednesday
-
May 21
-
6:00 - 7:30 PM
-
The Porch House at 2811 Dogwood Pl., Nashville, TN 37204

Nashville Mamas in Music are invited to participate in this workshop where we will break into small groups and practice writing to an example film/tv brief, then share our work with the group.

About Mamas in Music: Mamas in Music is a global non-profit organization with a mission to empower, advance careers and advocate for mothers across all spectrums of the music industry.

About the Facilitator: Hannah Miller writes dark and soothing music that in the words of one perceptive listener on YouTube “gives you half a feeling of happiness and half of loneliness”. Originally from Alabama and educated in North Carolina, she made the move to Nashville, TN in 2010, and there quickly discovered her love of writing music for film/tv. Her dark, ambient style has been heard on a lot on TV shows, including seasons one and two of This Is Us, Station 19, Virgin River, Truth Be Told, Sons of Anarchy, The Following and Pretty Little Liars as well as in several indie films and a smattering of national advertising campaigns for companies like Pitney Bowes and DSW. She was honored to be nominated for a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for her work on “This Is Us” in 2018. She recently finished up a couple of tours as support for the folk duo The Secret Sisters and has had the privilege of opening shows for Langhorne Slim, Elizabeth Cook, Ellis Paul and Kenny Loggins and many more.  She started and currently runs a twice yearly songwriting workshop in East Nashville called “The Song Garden” and continues to write and release music regularly from her home of Nashville, TN.
