Art Wire 2023-24, a collaboration with OZ Arts, comes to a close

Our creative collaboration with OZ Arts, Art Wire, recently wrapped its sixth season. Each performance season at OZ, a cohort of writers, comprising both teen writers and adults, is selected via application to attend a variety of OZ Arts presentations and respond to each work through original writing that is personal, playful, and deeply engaged. The OZ Arts 2023-24 season offers each Art Wire Fellow a diverse array of inspiration from pioneering local, national, and international choreographers, musicians, multimedia artists, and more. Fellows work closely with Porch mentors Ciona Rouse and Joseph Kane.

You can read examples of the Art Wire Fellows’ work here, including pieces by our 2023-24 Fellows and part season Fellows.

On Jun 12, 2024, a packed house listened to readings from Art Wire Fellows Ami’ Hanna-Huff, Asif ElAmri-Brantley, Kyoko Eng, Nat Martinez-White, JR Robles, and Aaron Shapiro. Their writing was inspired by OZ performances like Rennie Harris’ Rome & Jewels, Geoff Sobelle’s Food, Mazelfreten’s Rave Lucid, and others.

We want to thank OZ Arts for continuing to partner with us to inspire and encourage writers in the Middle Tennesseee area. We also want to congratulate this year’s Fellows, who challenged themselves and pushed their own boundaries in writing as part of the program. We look forward to seeing what they create next! Interested in applying to the seventh season of Art Wire? We’ll have more information for you soon! Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear when applications open.
